In a company-wide vote, employees at Nora Lighting overwhelmingly supported a holiday donation to No Kid Hungry, a national campaign that helps ensure schoolchildren across America have access to healthy meals.

Nora Lighting partners Fred and Jilla Farzan presented the holiday gift to No Kid Hungry representatives on behalf of Nora’s employees, sales reps, distributors and customers.

Sponsored by Share Our Strength, the No Kid Hungry nutrition program has supplied more than 460 million breakfasts, afterschool and summer meals in local communities throughout the U.S. Share Our Strength is based in Washington, DC, and its work is overseen by a network of private citizens, government officials and business leaders.

“We would like to thank Jilla Farzan and the team at Nora Lighting for their generous gift,” said Nathalie Keller, California associate director for development. “We are making great progress each year and are proud to report that we have helped connect kids in America to millions of nutritious meals while raising national visibility about childhood hunger,” she said.  

For the last six years Nora Lighting has made a significant holiday donation to a charitable cause on behalf of the company’s employees and associates.  “This year we asked our Nora team what program they would like to support and the overwhelming choice was No Kid Hungry,” said Jilla Farzan, executive vice president at Nora Lighting.  “In the past our company would send promotional gifts during the holidays,” she said, “but during the recent recession we decided it would be more meaningful to help those who are less fortunate.”

Nora employees voted this year on the charity of their choice, said Neda Farzan, Nora business development manager. “We are blessed to have such a caring staff and, as a company, can offer financial support to programs like No Kid Hungry. Without the specter of hunger in their daily lives, children can thrive in school and focus on attaining academic excellence,” she said.  “This program benefits families and entire communities.”
