The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has announced its sponsorship of the High Performance Building Congressional Caucus Coalition (HPBCCC) High Performance Building Week, June 13-19, 2010.

The week is an opportunity to highlight the importance of high performance buildings to federal, state, and local policymakers, as well as the general public. Representatives Judy Biggert (R-IL) and Russ Carnahan (D-MO), who serve as co-chairs of the High-Performance Building Caucus (HPBC), will be introducing a resolution in the House of Representatives supporting the goals and ideals of the week.

Additional activities include site visits to laboratories at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, congressional briefings, and a reception honoring advancements toward widespread achievement of high performance building goals.

At the state and local level, members of the building community are encouraged to celebrate the week through public outreach and contact with public officials.

According to NEMA President and CEO Evan R. Gaddis, members of the HPBCCC participating organizations are asked to contact their congressional representatives to encourage them to join the HPBCC or thank them for their support of it.

“NEMA is a proud member of this coalition. All policymakers should hear the voice of the building community and be encouraged to focus on high-performance building issues—this is critically important as energy and climate legislation is being considered,” Gaddis said.
