Mark Roush assumes the office of President of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES), the international leader in lighting education, standards, publications and professional development. Roush succeedes Paul Mercier.
Mark Roush has been a member of the IES for 36 years. During his career in lighting, he has worked in various capacities including marketing, application engineering, business development and training. Roush has been on the faculties of two universities teaching lighting in architecture and interior design, and has contributed to numerous articles on lighting.
Roush is also a Fellow IES Member, a Past President of the IALD Education Trust, and Chair of the LIGHTFAIR Innovation Awards Committee. He has served on IES Committees as Member, Secretary and Chair—mainly on education, but also in service including Medal Award, task group on Annual Conference and student involvement. He has received numerous industry awards. Roush is currently Principal at Experience Light, a lighting consultancy firm.
“I look forward to leading the IES through a challenging time of opportunity represented by several leadership activities started with my predecessor and continuing as a result of the retirement of two key senior staff members. We have commissioned a complete and thorough business review of IES operations, are very close to making an offer to new Executive Vice President, have capably identified an acting EVP and Technical Director, and have an engaged Board that sees before it the great opportunity to rejuvenate the entire organization. During my tenure as Vice President, we were successful in fashioning our Strategic Plan toward a vision focused on outcomes and not processes. This is an exciting time and I see a great future for the IES to engage our members, staff and Board,” said President Roush.
