LED Specifier Summit- Northwest Boasts Numerous Continuing Education Opportunities
September 14, 2016

The producers of LED Specifier Summit – Northwest, taking place Sept. 22, 2016 at Seattle's Washington State Conference Center, encourage area lighting professionals to take advantage of this new educational and sourcing event. The program will feature a sold-out exhibit hall along with top-notch education from many of the industry’s leaders.

Each of the 12 seminars at LED Specifier Summit Northwest is eligible for a variety of continuing education units, including AIA, IDCEC, LA CES and/or NCQLP.

The day will kick off with a trio of two-hour seminars, including Bio-Backstory: Examining Visual Discomfort from a Biological Perspective (speaker: Deborah Burnett, The Benya Burnett Consultancy) and 2015 Washington State Energy Code – Electrical and Lighting Systems (Andrew Pultorak, Puget Sound Energy; and Lisa Rosenow, Northwest Energy Efficiency Council).

In Bio-Backstory, Burnett will examine the biological consequences of negative light impacts which cause noticeable ocular discomfort and detail how glare can be minimized or eliminated with diligent manufacturing oversight, expanded specifier skill sets and end-user awareness.

Pultorak and Rosenow will discuss the new, more stringent, Washington State Energy Code that became effective in July. The seminar will help attendees understand its intent, while discussing requirements for lighting control options and lighting power allowances (LPA) for both interior and exterior spaces.

Other seminars throughout the day will include:

Lighting for Elders and the Aging Eye – This presentation will identify ways in which the eye ages, common diseases and what we can do with lighting as a tool in designing for the aging eye.

LED Lighting Facts for Specifiers – This seminar will provide the background on the why and what of the U.S. Department of Energy’s LED Lighting Facts Database, including a live demonstration and “real user” experiences from a lighting designer and the Next Generation Luminaire Indoor and Outdoor Competitions in 2016.

Benefits of Leveraging Utility Lighting Efficiency Programs for New Construction and Retrofit Projects – In this session, attendees will get a high-level overview of the region’s utility lighting efficiency and rebate programs, focusing on specific information pertinent to the design community, while learning how working with neutral party utility program implementers to utilize the programs can add substantial value to projects.

Registration for LED Specifier Summit is open now, and seminars are filling up fast as seating is limited. Click here to view the rest of the conference program.

The conference program is available for $249 (includes lunch); exhibit hall-only passes are complimentary.

The event is supported by Seattle's leading lighting agencies: ERW Lighting + Controls, Lighting Group Northwest, Sea-Tac Lighting & Controls LLC, Pacific Lighting Systems | Lighting & Controls, Stoller Inc. and Zuli Lighting.
