Illuminating Engineering Society Call For Papers
April 1, 2010

Authors of papers regarding the art, science and practice of illumination are invited to submit their papers for possible presentation at the 2010 IES Annual Conference scheduled to be held in Toronto, Canada from November 7-9, 2010. Paper presentations provide a valuable vehicle for educating the membership about important technical advances in lighting. The Papers Committee especially encourages submission of papers dealing with in a wide range of topics in both research and application. Papers may be submitted in two different categories:

1. Oral presentation (up to 5000 words)

2. Poster presentation (4 pages maximum). The number of papers that will be accepted for a formal oral presentation is limited. The Conference Papers Committee makes the final selection on papers for presentation, with the primary consideration being what will serve the best interests of the annual meeting and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America membership. Recently published papers (LEUKOS, etc.) may be proposed for a conference presentation.

Deadline for Papers: May 21, 2010
For Conference Papers Submittal Procedures, click  here.

Paper Presentation Formats

1.  Poster papers will be presented in a one-hour poster session that is the only conference event scheduled at that time. An author is required to stand with his/her poster display to address questions and to discuss the paper with attendees.

2.  A limited number of papers will be selected for oral presentation. The author will give a 20 to 25-minute presentation followed by a 5-10 minute period of questions from the audience.

Submitted papers undergo a rigorous review by members of the IES Conference Papers Committee and their designees. The committee encourages discussion of each presented paper at the oral presentation. All accepted papers will be available for download on-line access prior to and immediately following the conference for conference attendees. Paper authors are also invited to submit papers for possible publication in LEUKOS, The Journal of the IES.

Questions may be directed to the IES Conference Papers Committee Chair, Richard Mistrick, Ph.D., Penn State University ([email protected])
