The fifth annual euroLED event is being held at the £113 million complex for the first time and will take place on June 4 and 5.
The two-day show in the Jaguar Exhibition Hall will feature conference talks from leading industry experts, ‘hands on’ workshops, a wide array of exhibition stands, an ICT hub sponsored cybercafé and an Advantage West Midlands hosted VIP Lounge. To round off the first day of the event there will be a gala dinner for over 100 delegates in the E.ON Lounge.
Eve Gaut, Marketing and Events Executive for Aston Science Park, the organisers of euroLED 2008, said the event had tripled in size from last year and the visitors attending were expected to nearly double from last year to over 1,000.
“This is a key event in the industry because it gives leading companies the opportunity to network with one other and also allows delegates to discover how LED technologies significantly impact on the global lighting economy,” she said.
“The major focus of euroLED is the components part of light that is emitted; LED’s.
“A main focus in the industry currently is that LED’s are moving into general mainstream lighting because they are energy efficient and last longer than a normal light bulb. This is a hot topic that we will be addressing at this year’s show.
“Feedback from last year’s show indicated a need to discuss sustainable lighting so we will also be addressing this topic in the euroLight workshops and exhibition arena.
“To date we have 17 nations represented including China, South Korea, Russia, Canada, Argentina and many European countries.
“It is a fantastic opportunity for everyone in a specialist industry to join together.”
Julie Graham, head of sales at the Ricoh Arena, said individuals and companies were more concerned than ever about reducing their carbon footprint.
“Technology impacts on the lighting industry and bringing together entrepreneurs, industry leaders and companies is certain to help this niche market go from strength to strength,” she said.
“The huge demand in the sector has led to the event organisers re-locating to the Ricoh Arena since we can provide all the facilities they require under one roof and we wish them every success.”
