Power management company Eaton, a 2015 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year, will showcase advanced lighting-emitting diode (LED) technologies and lighting controls solutions at the 2015 AIA National Convention and Design Expo, held May 14 through16 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. Visitors to the company’s booth #3617 can also meet with Eaton’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) lighting expert to answer questions on the modeling process that helps create and manage building and infrastructure projects faster, more economically and with less environmental impact.
“The BIM program enables architects, engineers, facility managers and other users to go beyond representing the physical space of a new or retrofitted building to the intrinsic properties of the building structure,” said Mark Eubanks, president, Eaton’s Cooper Lighting Division. “The BIM process has been around for nearly 30 years and is increasingly becoming more of a requirement than an option for our customers. Statistics show that from 2007 to 2012 the usage rate in North America surpassed over 70 percent.”
Eaton’s Rosalind Pumphrey, BIM manager, will be on-hand on Thursday, May 14 at Eaton’s booth to answer lighting questions on the intelligent model-based process, which is playing an increasingly larger role in building development. The company, which has over 1,600 BIM product models – the most in the industry – will launch a BIM training education course for lighting professionals later this year and recently produced a white paper on the importance of BIM in the lighting industry.
Eaton will also showcase its LED technology and scalable control systems at the show, including its award-winning WaveStream™ LED technology and AccuLED Optics™ system, as well as its Fifth Light Addressable Lighting Control System. The Fifth Light system allows for easy management of an entire lighting system to maximize a building’s operational efficiency, while providing a personalized lighting experience to the building’s occupants.
In addition, visitors can get an exclusive look at the lighting innovator’s complimentary 24/7 online hub launching later this year. It will provide designers, architects, builders, students and other lighting professionals with lighting ideas, industry information, educational opportunities, energy resources and tools to move projects from inspiration to execution.
