More than 260 attendees participated in the 13th annual DOE Solid-State Lighting R&D Workshop, held February 2–4 in Raleigh, NC. The workshop combined plenary and LED/OLED breakout sessions, with presentations from 60 experts addressing such diverse lighting topics as health and human factors, IoT, manufacturing challenges, and site-specific applications such as restaurants, stadiums, and naval ships.
Many attendees noted the “worthwhile time investment” as well as the ability to “connect with innovators and industrial leaders” and to “talk openly about issues LEDs are facing.” The input gleaned from these discussions guides DOE's SSL funding solicitations and informs updates to DOE's SSL R&D Plan, widely consulted by government and industry in the U.S. and abroad.
