High intensity UV and BLUE LED light sources are now being employed in UV processes like UV and BLUE light curing. Featuring a unique horizontally constructed photodetector assembly which keeps the photodetector out of the hot zone, the X1-1-RCH-116-4 UV & Blue Light LED Curing Radiometer is able to maintain stability in high temperature and intense UV flood and spot curing environments. The fully remote controllable 4-channel X1-1 meter features auto-ranging from 0.1 pA to 200 uA or manual range selection, CW, dose, run/stop, offset and peak hold functions, selectable integration time from 20 ms to 1 second, USB interface, backlit LCD and is compatible with all other Gigahertz-Optik single and multi-sensor (up to 4) light detector heads. The RCH-116-4 ‘wand’ style detector consists of a RADIN radiation integrator coupled to a stainless steel rigid tube housing a quartz light guide that pipes the light signal to a detector capsule housing the photosensor/filter assembly. RADIN not only provides a cosine corrected spatial response but along with the light guide and remote detector capsule provides signal attenuation and thermal isolation. The detector assembly is not subject to direct irradiation which reduces ageing and saturation effects and allows the RCH detector to operate in temperatures up to 1000 C, (peaks up to 2000 C). The detector covers the spectral range from 350 – 465 nm with calibration points at key LED wavelengths of 365, 375, 385, 395, 405 & 436nm auto-ranging from 1 to 40,000 milliwatts/cm2. The wavelength for measurement is selected using the X1-1 meter menu function. The low profile RCH detector enables measurement just 8mm above the exposure plane. Internationally traceable calibration certification describes the calibration procedure, responsivity and traceability. The X1-1-RCH-116-4 Radiometer includes the meter, detector, USB cable, calibration certificate and carrying case. Optional S-X1 software is available.

The expert committee members involved in writing ANSI/IESNA RP-27.2-00, IEC/DIN/EN 62471 (CIE S 009) & DIN EN 14255-1 Photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems-measurement techniques recognized that lamp manufacturers and distributors, safety engineers and industrial hygienists tasked with optical radiation health hazard assessment require a portable, accurate and cost effective means of metrology. Subsequently the use of filter radiometers, with some restrictions, was written into the standard as an alternative measurement method to the more complex, stationary and expensive spectroradiometric method. Gigahertz-Optik’s X1-3 Light Hazard Meter with the XD-45-HUV UV-Hazard Detector, XD-45-HB BLUE-Light Hazard Detector and XD-45-HB-SRT200 FOV & Distance Adapter fulfills this requirement for a handy field portable meter for product classification and light hazard assessment.

Slight differences in LED characteristics can occur as a result of mass production. Sorting the LEDs into bin classes based on luminous flux and color properties provides a means of cataloging them. The LED manufacturer may do the binning or the party implementing the LEDs may self-bin them. For higher efficiency processing the LED is normally operated and measured in single pulse mode at a few millisecond long pulse width at a specified operating current. Gigahertz-Optik has developed a cost effective measurement system consisting of the BTS256-LED tester and LPS-20-1500 LED power supply with S-BTS256 software to assist with single pulse LED binning. Both meter, power supply and control software work in tandem to drive and measure the test LED in single pulse mode and record the results.

i3dOP is an iPhone application designed to allow anyone interested in lighting to quickly view the output of a light fixture in a fast, efficient, and visually realistic way. Lighting analysis and design should be quick and easy. The more quickly the software responds to the user's questions, the more time there is left for exploration and experimentation - increasing the prospect of a great design. i3dOP works with standard Type C IES format files allowing the user to position a fixture in a simple grid, and explore how light from the fixture projects onto a wall, the ground, or a surface as the position of the fixture is changed dynamically. Using the fundamental equation: "illuminance = intensity/distance-squared" at the heart of its algorithmic engine, we believe that i3dOP is a major step forward in understanding the most ubiquitous commodity available...light, in the environment it is used.
